Hole-in-one alert: Marcel Siem the lucky one

On the second day of the KLM Open, but still during the first round, Marcel Siem recorded the first hole-in-one of the tournament. On hole 4, he hit the ball straight into the hole. “That ball deserved to go in,” the friendly German said with a big smile. His ace earned him two KLM flight tickets to a European destination.

Siem had a 9-iron in his hands on the 136-metre par 3 when he struck the ball perfectly. “I immediately felt it was a good shot. The ball deserved to go in. Of course, you always need a little bit of luck as well, but it helps when you strike the ball well.”

Siem can certainly be called an expert in this area. According to him, he had already made an ace eight times before on the professional tour.

The hole-in-one was the icing on the cake in his round, which was bogey-free. At -4 after the first round, he is also in a very strong position.

The hole-in-one by the 45-year-old player from Mettmann is the twelfth of this season on the DP World Tour.
