Guido Migliozzi returns to defend his title at KLM Open 2025

Ruud Gullit tournament director alongside sporting director Daan Slooter

Guido Migliozzi, winner of the KLM Open 2024, will return to The International from 5 to 8 June 2025 to defend his title. The Italian will face tough competition from former champion Pablo Larrazábal, Major winner Jimmy Walker, and Dutch DP World Tour players Joost Luiten, Darius van Driel, and Wil Besseling. Together, they’ll compete for a record prize purse of €2,750,000.

Another exciting first: Dutch football legend Ruud Gullit has been appointed tournament director for the 2025 edition. A passionate golfer and proud Amsterdam native, Gullit will share the role with long-time sporting tournament director Daan Slooter.

Migliozzi aims for back-to-back wins

Last year, 28-year-old Migliozzi impressed fans with birdies on the first two playoff holes, clinching his fourth DP World Tour title in a dramatic showdown against Joe Dean and Marcus Kinhult. Former champion Pablo Larrazábal and 2016 PGA Champion Jimmy Walker are also among the first confirmed names for the tournament.

Dutch fans will be thrilled to see their top three homegrown talents in action. Joost Luiten, Darius van Driel, and Wil Besseling — all holders of a DP World Tour card — will once again enjoy strong support from the local crowd. Luiten, a two-time KLM Open champion (2013 and 2016), will be competing for the 18th time. Van Driel returns after a solid season that included a win, while Besseling is back at the highest level this year.

Record Prize Fund Underscores International Prestige

With the prize fund increased by €250,000 to a record total of €2,750,000, the KLM Open strengthens its position as the Netherlands’ highest-paying sporting event and reaffirms its international appeal.

Sporting director Daan Slooter: “With Migliozzi, Larrazábal, Jimmy Walker, a strong Dutch trio, and the increased prize money, we are taking a solid first step towards another outstanding edition of the KLM Open. The tournament continues to be a key fixture on the DP World Tour calendar — both for players and fans.”

Ruud Gullit tournament director in Amsterdam’s festive year

With the pay-off Great golf, good times, the KLM Open 2025 once again promises a unique blend of elite sport, hospitality, and entertainment. In this festive year celebrating Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, none other than Ruud Gullit will take on the role of tournament director. The former football star, sports icon, avid golfer, and proud Amsterdammer will join Daan Slooter in leading the event. Joost Luiten will continue his role as tournament ambassador.

With The International located just outside Amsterdam, the KLM Open offers the perfect setting to link the capital city’s celebrations with top-tier golf. As a native of Amsterdam and familiar face at The International, Gullit is ideally placed to embody the spirit of Great golf, good times.

“Golf is a sport of connection and joy,” says Gullit. “The KLM Open is a fantastic event that combines high-level sport with a great experience. To be part of it in the year my city celebrates its 750th anniversary — on my home course — makes it even more special.”
